The authors present a method for deriving reduced order models for large-scale single-input single-output (SISO) and multi-input multi-output (MIMO) linear continuous time systems using Simplified Stability Equation Approach (SSEA). Unlike other available methods, the proposed method is direct and computationally simple as it avoids necessity of application of reciprocal transformation, successive differentiation, formation of long Routh-type differentiation arrays of the original system and calculation of time-moments beforehand. The new approach always generates stable and unique low order models for stable high order original systems. Typical numerical examples illustrating the proposed method are provided.
