Gold(III)-catalyzed formal 3+2 cycloaddition of p-quinones with 1-phenylpropenes in ionic liquid,EMIMNTf2,enabled environmentally friendly,stereoselective synthesis of 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran neolignans in good yields.The gold catalyst/ionic liquid could be recycled at least five times.
