TheaimofthisstudywastoevaluatetheeffectofinclusionlevelandtheconcentrationofsugarcanevinasseonfermentationandnutritionalqualityofMaralfalfa(Penissetumsp)silage.Thegrassusedwasharvestedmanuallyat60daysofage.Treatmentsconsistedofthreelevelsofinclusion(3,6and9)withthreedifferentconcentrations(20,30and40)andatreatmentcontrol,withoutvinasse.Theinclusionofvinasseledtoincreasedproteinconcentrationandreducedcellwallconstituentsinthesilage.Thelowcontentofammonianitrogenandthereducedconcentrationofaceticandbutyricacidinthesilageswithvinasseindicatethatvinassereducedthemicrobiologicalactivityduringthefermentationprocess.Thesugarcanevinassedespiteitsacidiccondition,hadnoeffectonthepHvaluesinthesilages.Thecontributionofsugarsandaminoacidsfromstillagemayhavefavoredmicrobialgrowthandcausedarapidacidificationofthemedium,facilitatingtheconditionsforhighqualitysilage.Levelsofvinasseof9ledtoexcellentqualitysilage.
