A psychiatric view on the standards of expert testimony regarding criminal responsibility

Important questions concerning the quality of forensic-psychiatric expert testimonies are still unresolved. Our paper discusses these problems and pleads to accept the standards of expert testimonies worked out by an interdisciplinary group at the German Bundesgerichtshof as a tool to ensure the quality of expert testimonies regarding criminal responsibility. The standards should be reviewed regularly, in case of new findings they have to be optimised.
