Dependence of the clustering properties of galaxies on galaxy age

From the Main galaxy data of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 10 (SDSS DR10), we construct two volume-limited samples with the luminosity -20.5 <= M-r <=-18.5 and -22.5 <= M-r <=-20.5, respectively, and explore the dependence of the clustering properties of galaxies on galaxy age by cluster analysis. Statistical analyses in two volume-limited Main galaxy samples can reach the same conclusions: young galaxies preferentially form isolated galaxies, close pairs and small groups at all scales, whereas old galaxies preferentially inhabit dense groups and clusters.
