A TV system with stereo sound concedes depth effect in the reproduced sound by including two tracks of audio in the composite video relayed. Although the quality of the reproduced sound is much better than that in mono-sound TV, we could further improve it by implementing quadraphonic sound with four tracks of audio. This paper reports the realization of quadraphonic sound in TV as to make the audio presentation more sophisticated and realistic. A fast adaptive delta modulation is employed to generate the samples of four tracks of the audio and the DM bits are inserted as pulses in time multiplexed manner during the horizontal blanking intervals of the composite video. In the receiver these pulses are detected, de-multiplexed and the audio signals of four tracks are recovered.
