Our series of articles featuring InstMC Companion Companies continues as we go behind the scenes with Krohne Limited... In 1921 a German engineer, Ludwig Krohne, began producing variable area flowmeters from a rented workshop in Duisburg. Now, more than 80 years later, a global group of companies that bears his name employs around 2,500 people, has an annual turnover in excess of E250 million and ranks among the world leaders in flow measurement technology and innovation. Through 'Centres of Excellence' around the world, each specialising in specific areas of flowmeter research, development and manufacture, Krohne Messtechnik GmbH & Co KG has achieved a number of technological 'firsts' - not least through the UK operation, Krohne Limited, which was founded in 1976 at Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
