摘要

abstract_textpThe study was performed to answer the question whether conclusions regarding a reduction in alcohol consumption, abstinence or relapse can be made from changes in the values of the laboratory parameters within the standard value limits. The study included 23 individuals (12 female, 11 male). The study period was divided in 4 phases. In phase 1 they should drink alcohol as usual and document this in a drinking protocol. In phase 2 they should be abstinent. In phase 3 they should drink a glass of wine or the corresponding amount of beer on 3 days of the week, and in phase 4 they should drink a glass of wine or the corresponding amount of beer on every day of the week. Blood samples were taken and glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT), glutamate-pyruvate transaminase (GPT), gamma-glutamyltransferase (gamma-GT), carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT) and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) were tested. No significant correlation could be established between the amount of alcohol consumed and the level of the laboratory parameters, for either gender. The level of the laboratory parameters at the end of phase 1 showed no correlation to the level of the previous alcohol consumption. The laboratory parameters did not decrease during the 4 weeks of abstinence in comparison to the values at the beginning and did not increase due to a regular alcohol consumption at low and moderate levels./p/abstract_text
