abstract_textpExperiencing sexual violence is associated with an enormous emotional and physical stress on the part of the mainly female victims; however, the examination of such traumatized patients is also achallenge for the treating physician. The forensic medical examination after sexual violence necessitates not only medical empathy and sensitivity on aprofessional, unbiased basis by the examiner but also a systematic approach to the collection of legally valid evidence and stains against the background of a possible prosecution, regardless of whether the case has already been reported to the police or not. In order to guarantee optimal collection and documentation of evidential material within aforensic medical examination, it is recommended to use astandardized so-called rape kit, in which the examiner as well as the victim benefit from asimplified and standardized procedure./p/abstract_text
