While it goes without saying that consumer products must be carefully packed and stored during transport, the adequate packaging of industrial products is often ignored. It is taken for granted that machines and components are solid enough to survive lengthy shipments across countries or continents. Haulage companies therefore often encounter unexpected problems when they focus on the scheduling of transport only, for shipping a turbine from Western Europe around the globe is not just a matter of transport.
