THE ARIZONA State Department of Mines and Mineral Resources exhausted its funds for the year and its resources were taken over by the Arizona Geological Survey on Jan. 24. The agency, which was headed by Madan Singh, would have needed supplemental state funding to stay open and keep its six employees working beyond Jan. 21. However, a deal was reached to stay open and continue promoting mining and helping would-be miners in the state under the umbrella of the Arizona Geological Survey.
