摘要

Theeffectofparticlelength(2,4and6cm)onthequalityofwholemaizeplantsilagewasevaluatedbydeterminingthebacterialdensities,fermentationcharacteristics,proximatecompositionandinsitudegradationratesoveranbsp;5-weekperiodofensiling.HigherpopulationsofTVBandLABweredetectedinnbsp;maizesilagechoppedto2cmparticlelengthcomparedwith4or6cm.length.Lacticacidlevelswerehigher,andthoseofbutyricacidlower,inthe2cmparticlelengthmaizesilage.PercentagesofDM,OMandCPwerehigherinthe2cmlengthtreatmentasweretheratesofdegradationofDMininsiturumenincubation.levelsofnbsp;NDFandADFwerelowerinthe2cmchopsilage.
