摘要

The internal findings are essential for the holistic assessment of suspected cases of death by hanging. The present part 3 of the CME series of articles on the general topic "Strangulation" is subdivided into the presentation of internal findings on and remote from the neck organs. Special attention is paid to injuries of the larynx and hyoid bone. Further main focuses are the internal correlates of hanging marks, the so-called Amussat's sign, haemorrhages at the origins of the sternocleidomastoid muscles and cervical spine injuries. Remote from the neck, concomitant findings such as Simon's haemorrhages deserve particular attention.
