Freeport lines up copper projects; company plans to grow without acquisitions

FREEPORT-MCMORAN Copper & Gold is poised for some great expansion, and it plans to do it with its own operations. Richard Adkerson, chief executive officer of the company, told Miningweekly.com that, because of exploration around some of Freeport-McMoRan's existing orebodies, the company's total reserves and resources have expanded to more than 91 Mt (200 billion lbs) of copper. The company is the world's largest publicly traded copper producer.
