New Geophysical Surveys

Through the Government's Exploration New South Wales initiative, the Department of Mineral Resources has recently acquired a number of new geophysical surveys in various parts of the State. In late 2000, airborne geophysical surveys flown at a 400 m interline spacing were released over the Narrabri area (42,500 line km) and over the North West (NW) Eromanga area (55,000 line km) in the north-central and north-west areas of the State. Both surveys extended our knowledge of the structures of the petroleum basins and sub-basins in each area. In areas of shallow basement, the Narrabri survey also has a mineral and diamond interest. In the NW Eromanga survey around the Tibooburra/Milparinka area, there is a gold interest.
