Two years ago Avalon Minerals Ltd set up business in a highly regarded minerals-rich province in Sweden some 1,200 kilometres north of Stockholm. Not only did the company find itself within Europe's greatest iron producing region and a well recognised iron oxide-copper-gold district, but it was also fortuitous enough to be close to high capacity rail and ports. Sweden's minerals had only become available to foreign investors in comparatively recent years. Hence a friendly regulatory and tax regime, supportive communities with high capacity and established export infrastructure close to growing markets beckoned.
