摘要

The electronhyphen;paramagnetichyphen;resonance spectrum of C4in a neon matrix at sim;4 K formed by the vacuumhyphen;ultraviolet photolysis of 1,3hyphen;butadiene has been investigated to determine if there is any evidence of the bending of the molecule, which had previously been indicated by the results of EPR and Fourierhyphen;transform infrared measurements made on C4trapped in argon at 10ndash;12 K. The observed spectra, which include13C hyperfine splitting and zerohyphen;field splitting data, confirm the splitting of the perpendicularxy1andxy2lines of triplet C4into separatexandycomponents, which is indicative of the inequivalent axes of a bent molecule.
