The Coil & Extrusion Coatings Group of PPG Industries now offers Duranar SPF coatings, a line of infrared reflective coatings that meet the Energy Star requirements for roof products. PPG's new Duranar SPF coatings, which were launched at the 2003 AlA National Convention in San Diego, are specially formulated using infrared reflective pigments to increase the reflectivity of medium to dark colors. Architects and designers can now specify PPG's reflective coatings for metal roofs without sacrificing color choices. "Approximately 98 percent of our existing Duranar coating colors can be formulated with infrared pigments to meet the standards of Duranar SPF coatings," explained Keith Prines, general manager, industrial finishes. "This creates nearly endless color possibilities for cool roof coatings. Architects are no longer limited to light colors when specifying a reflective roof coating."
