Analytical expressions for the intensity and frequency noise of an individual mode in a multimode semiconductor laser with external optical feedback

Analytical expressions are derived for the intensity and frequency noise of each individual mode in a multimode semiconductor laser with external optical feedback. It is shown that in a two-mode laser the side-mode effect on the intensity noise is enhanced by the optical feedback which gives the maximum linewidth narrowing.
