Tattoos have become very popular amongst most members of society. They involve the introduction of insoluble particles into the dermis. Over time the dye moves (or disperses) and the tattoo design is permanently modified. We show, using simple mathematical models, how a tattoo changes with time and apply this to a number of examples.
