COMMUNITY pharmacy in Wales is to be the focus of a policy review by the National Assembly for Wales — the elected body responsible for holding the Welsh Government to account. The assembly's new cross-party Health and Social Care Committee plans to begin its review of the performance and potential of community pharmacy in August, and is currently consolidating the terms of reference for the inquiry. Although these are not yet fixed, a spokeswoman for the assembly said they might include looking at the Welsh pharmacy contract to see how well it is delivering its healthcare objectives, and to find out whether there is scope for pharmacy to provide further primary healthcare services.
