摘要

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) succeeded in producing high quality dissimilar welds with A5083 and A6N01 (Japanese Industrial Standard) evaluated by microstructures and a root bend test. To weld sound joint between A5083 and A6N01, it was found that A6N01, which had a wide optimum range of welding conditions, should be placed on the retreating side. The optimum welding condition of the dissimilar alloys between A5083 and A6N01 was wider than that of A5083, which is difficult to weld by FSW. In the opposite arrangement, it was difficult for A6N01 on the advancing side to flow into A5083 on the retreating side in front of the tool. The pores were observed in inappropriate welding conditions. Large pores occurred in a lower rotation speed of tool while small discontinuous pores did in a higher one.
