Tigre HAD OTE

The Aviation Legere de I'Armee de Terre (ALAT, French Army Air Corps) has concluded an eight-week operational test and evaluation (OTE) of the first French Tigre HAD (Helicoptere d'Appui Destruction), F-ZWPB (c/n 6001). The helicopter was evaluated by the Groupement Aeromobile de la Section Technique de I'Armee de Terre (Aeromobile Group of the Army's Technical Section) based at Valence. The tests included four launches of air-to-surface missiles over the island of Levant in the Mediterranean. Cdr Bruette (weapon systems officer) and Cpt Espelding (pilot) launched a laser-guided Hellfire on June 7, the first in the series. The missile was fired from a range of 4,200m (13,780ft) and hit its target.
