摘要

Guidedhyphen;wave interferometric modulators at lgr;=2.6 mgr;m, in Ti:LiNbO3, have been demonstrated. The design, fabrication, and performance of these modulators are presented. Extinction ratios as high as sim;30 dB withVpgr;sim;14 V for the extraordinary mode have been observed. No outhyphen;diffused modes were detected, likely as a result of the required diffusion conditions of high temperature and a long time.The devices are for use with statehyphen;ofhyphen;thehyphen;art fluoridehyphen;glass fibers, whose transmission loss spectra currently reveal a minimum value near 2.55ndash;2.6 mgr;m.
