Making information connections

I have spent the last three weeks fighting with my iPhone. In normal circumstances you would be right. It would be better to stick with my old phone. But, you see, this one talks, straight out of the box, and I can't recommend it to other blind peopleas the great solution unless I can use it myself. This isn't a technical review, so I will put the niggles to one side and concentrate on the essence. The Apple model - and others - depends on the proposition that you will pay for a lot of information you don't really want. So, for example, instead of agonising all week about what single you would buy on a Saturday with your pocket money, as I did in the early sixties, you just download tunes, dirt cheap. The price is right. So, on my phone there are apps and games and stocks and a myriad of other propositions; and there is a bewildering variety of ways of getting onto networks that involve logging in and paying out. It's the world of the multiple mini-investment.
