Oil production from the US Gulf of Mexico grew to record volumes in March, defying a declining rig count as existing facilities continued to ramp up in the first quarter of the year. Facilities in the US Gulf produced 1.763 million barrels of oil per day in March, according to the latest figures from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), up a little less than 1 over February’s total of 1.749 million b/d.
