The gigantic red ship loaded to just below the deck with boxes of bananas left the port of Guayaquil in Ecuador yesterday. Now's the time for Kai-Axel Schmidt and his colleagues in Hamburg on the other side of the Atlantic to show what they can do. They have 10 to 13 days time to prepare for the arrival of the produce, including selling it and organizing the transport of the fruit halfway across Europe.
