A Little Bit More About the Eugenias

This article was inspired by the January & February 2005 Fruit Gardener articles on one of the most prolific and wonderful of all fruit-producing plant genera, Eugenia. So I suppose one pausing to read what I have written might say that the Eugenia story continues. After having spent much time in agricultural pursuits in Central and South America, the lands of the Eugenia's culture and partial origin, I felt led to comment briefly on two especially important species, Eugenia stipitata and E. victori-anct. In these pages we've seen brief mention of both of these unique and luscious fruiting Eugenias. The purpose of this article is a somewhat deeper exploration and appreciation of these tropical fruits and the cultures that regularly produce and use them.
