Our lead news story this month is,of course,the recent announcement by Veolia Environnement of its intention to sell a substantial poart of its USFilter's water activities in the US.This decision will have surprised few industry watchers,since this planned sell-off appears to be the latest step in what is likely to be a long process to unravel USFilter's prolific acquisition spree back in the 1990s and bring its business more in-line with its parent company,which itself is still carrying a heavy debt burden from its previous association with the media group Vivendi Universal.What the future holds for USFilter-we will have to wait and see.
