Against the backdrop of persistent global economic troubles and increasingly serious problems in Eurozone countries, and the impact this would have on the UK - on top of the existing tight domestic fiscal policy - it's hard even to understand presentconditions, let alone attempt to predict market trends. In general, the UK forest products industry will be glad to see the back of 2011, although for most, the ups (mainly the surprisingly strong demand that appeared once the long winter ended, with good business reported by all sectors of the industry during spring and early summer) and downs (the earlier-than-expected slowdown into the summer and therefore lengthier-lasting doldrums) will probably balance to give a 'level' year of trading.
