On March 20, Chicago Bridge Iron (CBI) submitted three updated interim reports on deviations (but, as the company insists, not defects) in work for the Westinghouse Electric Company AP1000 pressurized water reactors being built at the Summer site in South Carolina and the Vogtle site in Georgia. In its reports to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, CBI stated that the reports are not final because of the need for review, inspection, and testing. The company's target dates for final reports are given in parentheses at the end of the items listed below: Mechanical coupler welds on overlay plates at Vogtle. The couplers are to provide attachment locations for threaded rebar. The plates were received from the SMCI Division of MetalTek International. There have been instances of weld undersize and incomplete weld fusion. (June 30).
