摘要

Data from the Women's Health Initiative observational study analyzed cancer risk vis-a-vis the American Cancer Society (ACS) prevention guidelines score [1]. The score includes four lifestyle behavior-associated components: body weight, physical activity, diet and alcohol consumption [2]. The cohort consisted of 65 838 postmenopausal women who were followed for a mean of 12.6 years. Physical activity was measured as MET h/week, and nutrition questionnaires collected information on total energy/ day, number of fruit and vegetable servings/day, grain servings/ day, meat servings/day and alcohol consumption. During this period, 8632 incident cancers were recorded. The highest ACS scores compared with the lowest were associated with a 17% reduced risk of any cancer (HR = 0.83; 95% CI 0.75-0.92), 22% lesser risk of breast cancer (HR = 0.78; 0.67-0.92), 52% lower risk of colorectal cancer (HR = 0.48; 0.32-0.73), 27% lesser risk of all-cause mortality, and 20% lower risk of cancer-specific mortality (HR = 0.80; 0.71-0.90). The study demonstrated once again the great importance of healthy lifestyle in the prevention of chronic diseases.
