Metal recycling promotes environmental sustainability by helping reduce the demand for raw materials and energy. Because metals are a non-renewable resource, secondary production is a significant part of the process used to repurpose scrap. Secondary production of aluminium is substantially more cost-effective and requires only 5 of the energy to create from naturally occurring raw material, thus there is a growing demand to use it. In addition, due to regulatory initiatives that enforce the recycling of metal-based products at end-of-life, the recycle and reuse of aluminium will continue to increase.
