Conclusions and recommendations

Removal of plant nutrients by crops is higher than the additions through fertilizers resulting in unabated depletion of reserves of nutrient in the soil. This is a major threat to sustainable crop production. Addition of nutrients to offset the mined nutrients is essential to negate the consequences of this depletion.
