Muscat-A refinery and petrochemical project planned in the Duqm Port district of Oman has been described in further detail by officials of Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Co. (DRPIC) and published in official reports. DRPIC, the newly formed, equally-owned joint venture of Oman Oil Co. (OOC) and Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Co., is building an export-oriented refinery with a capacity of 230,000 b/d in the first phase and a 1.2-million-t/y polypropylene plant in a second phase (PCN, 13 Aug 2012, p 3). Cost of the project is estimated to be $6-billion.
