A Lasting Impression

One of the biggest challenges for any organization (public or private) is finding replacements for leaders, such as managers and supervisors, who've moved on either through retirement or promotion. This is a huge problem within the fire service because we don't generally plan for these occurrences as well as we should. We usually just plug someone in who passed a promotion exam; one body out, one body in. And that's a shame.
