Fish Protein Hydrolysates Enhance Stress Resistance Of Aquaculture Species

Protein hydrolysates, especially those of marine origin, are naturally rich in nutrients that can help support aquatic species' immune defenses in resisting stressors. This was illustrated by the positive impacts of hydro-lysate supplementation on morbidity or survival rate when fish were submitted to thermal, ammonia or disease challenge. Protein hydrolysate supplementation was also shown to enhance feed palatability and reduce gut inflammation induced by plant-based feed, especially under stressful events.
