The controversy arising from Promar International being engaged by Tesco to compile figures on its suppliers' cost of production has prompted the consultancy business to issue an attempted public justification for its position. I worry that it could backfire on them. Who else, apart from football agents or arms dealers, can get away with selling their wares to both sides at the same time? Surely, even if it's not illegal, the morals are dubious. In its public defence, Promar states "unfortunately, many of the comments [arising in the press from the controversy] are factually incorrect and misleading..." So I'll endeavour to use only the facts from their letter.
