Global soyabean production in 2009/10 is estimated at a record, boosted by big crops in several leading producers. In South America, harvesting in Brazil was completed in May. The latest official forecast placed the outturn at 67.9m. tons, a rise of 19% from last year, the result of a larger area and very good yields. In Argentina increased plantings and a rebound in yields will also ensure a record crop of over 53.0m. tons (32.0m.), combining of which was in its final stages. Concerning prospects for 2010/11, the 2010 US crop is projected to decline to 90.1m. tons (91.4m.). While plantings are expected to increase slightly, this will be outweighed by somewhat reduced yields.
