Interview with Robert J. Landy

The author spoke on 11 March 2016 with drama therapy pioneer, Dr Robert J. Landy, to discuss his experience in the drama therapy field over the past 30 years. Based in the USA, Robert J. Landy has been at the forefront of drama therapy in the USA and abroad, including founding the Drama Therapy Programme at New York University in 1984. Until his retirement next year, he holds the position of Professor of Educational Theatre and Applied Psychology. A therapist, theatre artist, scholar and writer, Landy continues his work in theatre and music alongside his clinical and teaching experiences. He is well known for his work in developing role theory and role method as discussed in his seminal 1993 book, Persona and Performance: The Meaning of Role in Drama, Therapy, and Everyday Life. His more recent work includes the therapeutic theatre series at NYU, '...As Performance'.
