In this second instalment in a series, we look at applying PERT principles to stay on track... and on budget. I would like to share with you some principles and guidelines of project management. During the past 32 years, I have seen many endeavourstake place, involving large sums of money. Taking the time to get acquainted with the basic principles of project management always maximizes that investment. Before you jump to conclusions that this type of planning is only for large operations, I wouldsay this planning is more important with small operations, where some ideas are not shared with the other people that are involved in the project. The size of the project is immaterial - these principles will still apply. How many times have you starteda project with a certain dollar cost, only to finish with at least double the estimate? This is almost always because we did not follow these guidelines or any other project management planning.
