At aluminum plants in the country, equipped with electrolyzers using top current feed and self-baking anodes, carbon froth accumulates on the electrolyte surface during selective combustion of the anode. To regenerate the cryolite, the carbon froth is subjected to flotation, as a result of which 80-85 percent cryolite is extracted from it. In order to salvage flotation tailings, it was proposed that they be used as additives when producing anode mass 1. However, this method has not found practical use, since at the existing sodium content in wastes (4-7 percent) there is a sharp increase of anode destructability in CO_2 currents! this increases their specific consumption 2, The Ha content in the tailings had to be cut.
