Additional emissions regulations for highway vehicles are being phased in from 2007 to 2010. These stringent standards will have a major impact on the levels of pollutants emitted from the exhaust of heavy duty diesel trucks. It is no longer possible for the engine builders, fuel suppliers, additive developers, and lubricant suppliers to work independently to meet the new standards. A systems type approach is required.
