If seed sowing wasn't as easy as you'd expected, try these solutions for size. When I sowed lobelias for my hanging baskets, they grew away well, then suddenly collapsed and started to rot. What caused this? This is known as damping off, a fungal disease which affects many seedlings. It spreads quickly in humid conditions, particularly if the seed trays are over-watered. Water the compost before sowing with Bio Cheshunt Compound, and again every week when the seedlings appear.
