Practical Gardening's Ceri Thomas wanted colour; and quickly. Her seed-raised gold, orange and white border did the trick. After sending months clearing the ground on my allotment, I was fed up of seeing bare earth; I wanted some colour, and quickly.Perennials tend to take a good season to establish, so annuals would have to be the workhorses I'd previously visited the fabulous potager gardens of St Jean-de-Beauregard while on a holiday in France, and was taken by the colour-themed borders there. Knowing a good idea when I see it, I decided to have a go at recreating a border with a rich gold, orange and white theme.
