Dow lowers fourth-quarter outlook

Dow expects fourth-quarter EBITDA to be $150-200 million below current First Call analyst consensus estimates,down roughly 5-7 on higher raw material costs and lower polyethylene(PE)and coproduct pricing."We‘ve seen recoveries from weather-related unplanned events,the end of turnaround season,as well as the start-up of some new polyethylene capacity on the US Gulf coast,while at the same time energy and feedstock costs have been elevated until last week resulting in higher raw material costs in the quarter,"Dow president and CFO Howard Ungerleider said at the Citi basic materials conference on 1 December.
