CHS posted a $45.2mn loss during the third quarter of its 2017 fiscal year, down from a $190.3mn profit in the yearprior period. The co-op's agriculture segment suffered a $221.2mn loss during the quarter, a sharp fall from the $24.2mn profit in same period last year. The bulk of the loss stemmed from CHS' Brazilian trading partner Seara entering bankruptcy proceedings, resulting in a $230mn charge that decreased its grain marketing division profits.
