In this issue of Blood, Psatha et al have further developed gene editing approaches to increasing fetal hemoglobin (HbF) expression in vitro and in a murinemodel with engrafted human CD34(+) thalassemic cells.(1) Thismay improve outcomes in the future for patients with severe inheritable hemoglobin disorders.
