Solvay and Sinochem Lantian, a subsidiary of the Sinochem Group, will build an electronics grade hydrogen fluoride plant for Lansol Fluorchem Co. at Quzhou, China. Lansol Fluorchem, a producer of technical grades of purified hydrogen fluoride, is a joint venture in which Zhejiang Lantian Environmental Protection Co. has 70 and Solvay 30. Commercial products from the new plant will be available by year-end, Solvay says. Solvay has agreed to transfer its technology to Lansol to produce electronic grades of hydrogen fluoride to cater particularly for the production of photovoltaic cells.
