Ecolab expects third-quarter earnings at the low end or slightly below its previous forecast due to the impact of Hurricane Harvey. The company expects any earnings impact from the storm to be temporary. “The effects of the hurricane on our customers, our plants and operations and our raw material costs are still playing out and it is too early to formally quantify them,” says Douglas Baker, Ecolab chairman and CEO. “However, a number of our industrial and refining customers were forced to shut down their operations, as we were for our three manufacturing plants in the Houston area.”
